How do you read a newspaper? Well as for me I try to choose only what I need to read. Ofcourse there are some bad news and good news in a newspaper and we can’t help but to view the bad news as well yet I always look for the good news first before reading the bad news^^I just find it so unfair when people sensationalize the news and it’s always been that way.
I thought about this because I wonder why we love to criticize or ostracize people. Why do we never care about other people’s feelings just to make our news the best news in the world. Why do we always compete with one another. “Our nation is better than your nation. Our people are better than your people”. I just wonder why we can’t be fair with each other.
We all have our own hidden agenda. We don’t do things out of love instead we do things only for our selfish interests. That’s why we try to pull each other down instead of promoting what’s best for each other.
Love your neighbor as our Father says. Forget our hidden agenda. Do things out of love not out of selfishness.
As one of the common tao living in this world I only have these simple stories to share as well....
I visited my godmother's house today and gave her the gift that I hadn't given to her on her bday....She made me feel at home and at ease with her daughters and sons and would always introduce me to whoever is with her...I was always "feeling shy" whenever she introduces me to her guests coz she always mentions how I never forget to show my gratitude to her though it has been so many years since she had supported me in my studies....The truth is I think whatever I do to her I still couldn't equal the love that she had given me.....
Years ago she had a granddaughter who she really loved so much.....but she had cancer and died while carrying a baby with her.....the baby died as well....During the time that her granddaughter was sick was also the time when she was supporting me in my studies.....I felt like it wasn't right to give too much to others when you yourself needed so much too.....but she was always there for us with a smile even though she herself was suffering from a loved one's disease....She just wanted others to be happy....that is her philosophy in life....
Now thank God that though she is already 88 yrs. old she still can do some household chores... though slightly slow when she walks but still she has that lively voice with her^^......I think she deserves happiness too for making lots of people happy in this world^^
I thought of writing something today but I forgot it^^...My friend Cecil had suggested that in order for me not to forget what I want to write I should keep a paper and a pen with me all the time so that whenever a good idea comes out I could jot down everything immediately...or maybe I should keep those ideas in my heart too...^^
Although, last Friday I wanted to share the homily given to us by our parish priest about knowing how to listen to others words of truth ....or listening from the heart....He said many of us could hear but we really don't know how to listen....Listening from the heart would make you respect the other person he said....That way we will understand each other....Many of us rely mostly on what we know....we have too much pride....and we do not listen well....And when it happens we commit mistakes....and more often we could have avoided those mistakes if we just listened from the heart....
There were students who were present during the mass and somehow they understood the message well....So after the mass I noticed some students becoming more responsible when we had some discussions in the class.....so they listened from the heart....In a way when you convinced other people to know what is good for them somehow they would believe though they may not easily show that you had convinced them....Probably if you want people to listen to you or believe in you....you should also respect and believe in them....Respect begets respect....
Listening from the heart therefore is important and equally important would be believing that others would believe in you....and they would definitely listen to you as long as you give them the truth....
I got sick last night....Maybe it's because of the bad weather we've had for the past days....at times it rains and at times the sun just comes out...Though I'm fine now....I slept earlier than I used to and maybe I just needed some rest^^
We were busy in school....We have so many activities coming up as well....The kids though are very cooperative so I feel like the load is not too heavy to take^^...
Speaking of the weather again....its unpredictability can't be controlled....just like some events or situations in our lives....So we must think about how we affect others on the things that we do....We must be aware of our actions and make necessary adjustments if we feel like we are being unfair to others....We should be careful with those things....The weather is not always on our side....
Maybe if we only have an open mind....we could be able to solve whatever disagreements we have....
Speaking of disagreements....I think we should humble ourselves.... Respect the other person if there's a need for us to meet halfway.....Be sincere with our intentions....Understand each other....Give the other person a chance to show that he has an open mind, an open heart....Tell him with all fairness and dignity the grievances and plans you have....and you'll be surprised even a bad person has a good side, a kindness in him.....
Now even the bad weather can't
pull you away from where you are....
Respect Yourself
I think it’s quite difficult to convince other people to believe in you if you yourself find it hard to respect yourself and other people.
Some people think that when they have it all ….power, intelligence, money, career, beauty, they already deserve respect from others.
No,…. it’s not just because you have lots of friends, you’ve given yourself a name, you’ve traveled around the world, you’ve had so many experiences in life, you’ve got an expensive car, a mansion…...N o…... You are absolutely wrong….Those are not the requirements in gaining true respect and love from other people.
You should learn to love and truly accept others regardless of their status in life, race, religion, upbringing, and education…
Once I read a story of how a celebrity would love to make it big in Hollywood….he is a Korean….
Some people would laugh at his English I may say while trying to learn the language. …I was just wondering why would you laugh at someone who is trying hard to make himself better to be understood and learn a certain language.
There are some people who glorify themselves just because they knew more or are better speakers or writers, or well educated than others…..If that Korean would say “All you English speaking people speak in Korean or Chinese instead of English does he have the right to do so?”
Some people are educated but are not cultured and some are not educated yet cultured…. Some people do to others the things they don’t want to be done upon them by others….An old saying from Confucius to Jesus Christ yet most people had not taken it to their hearts and are disrespectful towards their neighbors.
My friends how can you respect others if you do not know how to love and follow the golden rule.?
